Why will the machine not move with the engine running?
When the engine runs but the machine will not move, first identify its drive type. A tracked excavator, hydrostatic loader, dozer and torque-converter or gearbox machine have different possible causes. Do not immediately condemn the gearbox or hydraulic motor.
Identify the machine and drive
It may use hydrostatic travel, travel motors, powershift, a torque converter, a mechanical gearbox or electronically controlled transmission. Build the diagnosis around that system.
Controls
Start with joystick, pedal, F/N/R selector, position sensors, safety switches, travel interlock, parking brake and controller faults. If the controller cannot see a travel command, dismantling the motor is premature.
Hydrostatic drive
Check pilot or control command, travel pump, charge pressure, hydraulic motors and their brakes, valves, shuttle valve or excavator centre joint, and internal leakage. Compare left and right if only one side fails.
Gearbox and torque converter
Check oil level and condition, transmission pressure, charge pressure, selector, solenoids, clutch pressure, speed sensors, brake, torque converter and gearbox mechanics.
Does it try to move or give no response?
This distinction determines the next checks.
No response at all
Focus on the command, interlocks, control pressure, solenoids and brake.
It tries to move but cannot
Check working pressure, pump, hydraulic motor, transmission, internal leakage and mechanical seizure.
The engine loads heavily during a travel attempt
Mechanical or hydraulic seizure may be the cause: a brake that does not release, seized final drive, blocked motor, binding transmission or mechanically jammed track.
What you can observe
Tracked or wheeled, and what drive type? Does F/R or the pedal produce a response? Does the engine load, does one side move and does the parking brake release? Note transmission faults and whether failure was sudden.

What to send us
Send the machine model and S/N, drive type, failed direction, faults, control, travel and transmission pressures and the engine response.
Include the make and model, S/N or a nameplate photo, engine model if known, operating hours, exact code or display photo and when the fault occurs.
Also tell us what you have already checked or replaced and the results. Include a photo or short video of the symptom where useful.
