Black smoke and loss of engine power
Black smoke and power loss together mean fuel is entering, but air may be insufficient, exhaust restricted or machine load excessive. Starting with injector replacement is usually premature.
Boost leakage
Check turbo hoses, intercooler, cracks, displaced clamps, oil/blow marks at joints and actual boost. A burst hose often causes sudden weakness and heavy black smoke.
Turbocharger
Check free rotation, wheel-to-housing contact, excessive play, boost generation, turbine-side damage and sticking geometry/wastegate control where fitted.
Air or exhaust restriction
Air filter, intake, EGR, DPF, DOC/SCR, backpressure and exhaust flaps. A blocked exhaust reduces power and impairs turbo operation together.
Hydraulics may consume the power
If smoke appears with one function, compare operation without and with hydraulic load. Free unloaded acceleration but a sharp drop with one function may point to that hydraulic circuit rather than the engine.
Fuel still needs checking
After air and load, check low-side pressure, Common Rail, pump, injectors, fuel quality and cylinder corrections. One overdelivering injector or incorrect fuel control can also cause black smoke.
What to observe
Load-only smoke, air whistling, a detached hose, oil around boost joints, operation without hydraulics, boost/EGR/DPF faults and sudden onset of power loss.

What to send us
Boost, fuel and DPF readings, loaded RPM and exactly which machine operation causes the smoke.
Include the make and model, S/N or a nameplate photo, engine model if known, operating hours, exact code or display photo and when the fault occurs.
Also tell us what you have already checked or replaced and the results. Include a photo or short video of the symptom where useful.
