Exhaust smoke
Engine smokes when accelerating
A brief dark puff when sharply increasing load on an older diesel can occur. Persistent heavy smoke every time the throttle is increased needs checking. Does airflow rise along with fuel delivery?
Turbo response or boost is lacking
Check turbo condition, wastegate/VGT control, hoses, intercooler, leaks and boost sensor. Whistling or hissing on acceleration calls for a careful leak check.
Filter and intake
A blocked filter, pinched hose or closed flap reduces air. A sharp increase in fuel then produces smoke.
EGR
A stuck-open EGR can be especially noticeable during transitions between operating conditions.
Injectors
Poor atomization or excessive fuel can cause acceleration smoke. Useful checks include cylinder corrections, a cutout test, injector testing and smoke comparison across operating modes.
Smoke only when hydraulics engage
Check whether the pump overloads the engine. A sharp RPM drop with black smoke when the joystick moves may involve pump control or that particular function.
What to observe
Unloaded or working? Brief or continuous smoke? Power loss, boost noise/whistling, filter condition and EGR/boost/DPF faults.

Have a fault code?
Problem still there?
If these checks have not identified the cause or the fault returns, contact TSV Servis. The more initial information you provide, the sooner we can identify the next diagnostic direction.
What to send us
Boost, fuel, EGR and DPF data and a video of the engine's response to increased RPM or load.
Include the make and model, S/N or a nameplate photo, engine model if known, operating hours, exact code or display photo and when the fault occurs.
Also tell us what you have already checked or replaced and the results. Include a photo or short video of the symptom where useful.
